(PoliticalLookout.com)- Leftist HBO host John Oliver recently went after the city of Danbury, in Connecticut. That should come as no surprise – leftist television show hosts are the most out of touch people in the country, and they seem to get a pass from the big TV networks to criticize and demonize half of the country.
“If you’re going to forget a town in Connecticut, why not forget Danbury?” Oliver recently said. “Because, and this is true, f*ck Danbury!” he added.
The utterly bizarre rant went on, with Oliver sarcastically citing the city’s “historic Hearthstone Castle” and “charming railway museum” before adding, “Danbury, Connecticut can eat my whole a**.”
What is wrong with these people?
Anyway, the comments didn’t go unnoticed. The Republican Mayor of Danbury, Mark Boughton, responded to the insults by announcing that he will rename the city’s sewage plant the “John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant.”
In a video, Mayor Boughton can be seen standing in front of the sewage plant wearing a high visibility yellow vest.
“Hi, I’m Mayor Mark Boughton of the city of Danbury, Connecticut,” he says. “You know, last week John Oliver had us on his show, and he pointed three important points of interest of Danbury, one was our wonderful railway museum, and we agree with that. Two was our great castle, and we certainly agree with that. And then three was that we were once ranked as the number two city in the United States of America. And of course we agree with that.”
The mayor then said that he is “proud to announce our fourth point of interest.”
“Behind me, you’ll see the City of Danbury sewer plant. We are going to rename it the John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant. Why? Because it’s full of crap just like you, John,” he said.
That’s some Trump-esque move. And one that people aren’t going to forget any time soon. It might make late night comics think twice about mocking American towns and cities outside of New York and California!
For some more context, Oliver was going after the city over the way jury selection works. A computer system hadn’t chosen people from certain parts of Connecticut for years because of a glitch. It meant that Danbury was forgotten by the computer system, and Oliver thought it would be funny to describe how forgetful the place is.
Well, he won’t be forgetting it again.
