(PoliticalLookout.com)- Lindsey Graham goes up and down in Republican favor all the time, but this week he’s a good guy. Graham, who is the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, announced on Tuesday that he intends to complete his investigation into the FBI’s investigation into President Trump and allegations that his campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 election campaign.
The allegations were proven false when the initial FBI probe ended, showing that there was no evidence to suggest Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia to win the election. Graham and his colleagues have spent time investigating the FBI probe and now looks to be preparing to release its findings sooner rather than later.
“I want to do it before the election,” Graham said on CNN. “I want to get all the information out there.”
It comes at a time when former President Barack Obama faces much criticism after court documents revealed how FBI agents and Obama administration appointees deliberately entrapped former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. The three-star general was recently exonerated by the Department of Justice after it was revealed how President Obama was aware of the investigation, and potentially knew about the dirty tactics being used to entrap Flynn.
“I’m trying to explain to the American people what happened in Crossfire Hurricane,” Graham said, referencing the codename for used by the FBI for the Russia investigation. “I gave Mueller all the space he needed to do his job. He’s done his job, we got the Mueller report, we’re going to do this by October.”
Monday also announced on Monday that his committee will vote on June 4 on authorizing a subpoena for testimony and for an investigation into Obama-era documents relating to the investigation. The subpoenas, if approved, will relate to James Comey, the former FBI Director who was fired for his incompetence and bias. Former CIA Director John Brennan and the former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper will also be at the heart of the subpoena.
As the Supreme Court denies House Democrats access to grand jury documents relating to the investigation and squashes their hopes of impeaching the president again, this could prove damning for Obama and the Democrats in the run-up to the November election.
