New Chemical Found In Face Masks Could Cause Penile Shrinkage

( This might not sound like a real story, but we assure you it is.

According to Dr. Shanna Swan, who is a professor of Environmental Medicine & Public Health at the Mount Sinai Health System, a chemical that is commonly used in the manufacturing of plastic goods – including masks – could harm male fertility and even cause penile shrinkage.

A study which was listed in the National Center for Biotechnology Information revealed that phthalates, a chemical found in all plastics, are also found in many of the COVID face masks being used all over the world today.

Swan’s book, titled “Count Down: How Our Modern World Is Threatening Sperm Counts, Altering Male and Female Reproductive Development, and Imperiling the Future of the Human Race,” warns that phthalates are so dangerous and so prominent today that most men could be infertile by the year 2045.

Phthalates have only been around for as long as plastic has been around, meaning we still don’t know the true long term effect of using this chemical on products like saran wrap or face masks, where the chemical is likely to be ingested.

Swan began her research on phthalates and their effect on male fertility when she first researcher phthalate syndrome, a condition observed in rats that caused their offspring to be born with shrunken genitals when exposed to phthalates in the womb. Her research showed that human babies who were exposed to phthalates while in the womb were born with smaller penises.

Swan’s research goes back to at least 2009 when she also found that young boys who were exposed to the chemical in the womb were more likely to exhibit feminine behavior in childhood and later life.

Combine those studies with a study from this year by Tadele Assefa Aragaw that revealed how surgical face masks are a “potential source for microplastic solution,” and the West potentially has a major problem on its hands. The study found that toxic chemicals in the masks, including phthalates, may be released during the degradation process – so anybody wearing a surgical mask over prolonged periods of time could be breathing in chemicals that cause male infertility or affect unborn children.

In Dr. Swan’s new book, the researcher predicted that the male fertility rate is rapidly declining and that most men may become infertile by 2045.
