NO JOKE: Joe Biden Thinks Half The US Population Was Killed In Shootings

(PoliticalLookout.com) -Joe Biden is having a rough time of it lately, and his presidential campaign seems to be proving a bit more than he can handle. Once considered the natural frontrunner for the Democrats, the former vice president has begun struggling in the polls and can’t beat socialist Senator Bernie Sanders. In recent weeks his numbers have started plummeting, and following a series of gaffes, he claimed live on television that half of the American population has been killed in shootings.

You read that right.

During the Democratic debate in South Carolina on Tuesday night, Joe Biden said, “150 million people have been killed since 2007 when Bernie voted to exempt the gun manufacturers from liability.”

Without flinching, or even realizing he had said anything wrong, he continued. “More than all the wars, including Vietnam, from that point on, carnage on our streets.”

Biden was trying to make the case for being the strongest on tackling gun violence (translation: infringing upon the Second Amendment). He didn’t walk back his statement or offer clarification and, incredibly, none of the candidates corrected him either. Even the debate moderators kept quiet.

Perhaps everyone knows Biden is having a difficult time, and nobody wants to be cruel. Joe Biden has repeatedly called former British Prime Minister Theresa May “Margaret Thatcher.” He even referenced a former leader of China instead of current leader Xi Jinping and announced to an audience that he was running for the U.S. Senate…and not for the presidency.

So, after claiming that roughly half of the entire American population had been killed by gun violence in recent years, Biden went on to explain how he’s the best candidate to take on the National Rifle Association.

“And I want to tell, you if I’m elected, NRA I’m coming for you and gun manufacturers I’m going to take you on and I’m going to beat you.”

Strong words.

Interestingly, Biden didn’t even accidentally say “million” instead of “thousand.” The figure appears to just be completely made up. The Daily Wire reports that around 11,000 Americans are killed from gun-related homicides each year. So where, exactly did Biden get those numbers from?
