(PoliticalLookout.com)- Former President Donald Trump is remaining quiet no longer on the crisis at the southern border.
President Joe Biden said he would travel to the border “at some point” in the near future, saying he was in no rush to do so because “I know what’s going on in those facilities.”
On Sunday, Trump blasted his successor, saying in a statement:
“We proudly handed the Biden Administration the most secure border in history. All they had to do was keep this smooth-running system on autopilot. Instead, in the span of just a few weeks, the Biden Administration has turned a national triumph into a national disaster. They are in way over their heads and taking on water fast.”
The former president said Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, is showing his “pathetic, clueless performance” to the American people. Trump continued:
“Even someone of Mayorkas’ limited abilities should understand that if you provide Catch-and-Release to the world’s illegal aliens, then the whole world will come.
“It’s clear they are engaged in a huge cover-up to hide just how bad things truly are. The only way to end the Biden Border Crisis is for them to admit their total failure and adopt the profoundly effective, proven Trump policies.”
The former president then urged Biden to “immediately complete the wall, which can be done in a matter of weeks. They should never have stopped it. They are causing death and human tragedy.”
Biden created an immigration agenda that gives 11 million undocumented immigrants a pathway to U.S. citizenship. However, he has since urged migrants who were planning to make the trek to the United States to not do so for now.
That message hasn’t worked so far, though, as migrants continue to flock to the southern border in hopes of entering the U.S. They are excited about the prospects of much more lenient treatment by the Biden administration than they did under Trump.
On Sunday, Biden was specifically asked why his message didn’t do much at all to stop the chaos going on at the southern border. He admitted that the administration needed to increase efforts to get his messaging out to migrants who are traveling to America. How he plans to do that, though, is anyone’s guess.
Facilities run by Customs and Border Protection have operated far beyond their capacity in recent weeks during the surge in crosses at the southern border. In February alone, CBP said it encountered more than 100,000 migrants at the southern border. The number of children who have been taken into custody has increased substantially, too.
The Biden administration’s response has been to increase capacity of these facilities so they could house the migrants. They’ve even built more facilities, and are looking into using military bases and NASA sites as places to house more migrants.
Whatever the Biden administration is doing now, it’s certainly not working, and something has to be done soon. Maybe Biden should listen to Trump more often
